The Nyonya Trail
The craze is still on, as is evident on the filled coach we took to Melaka for a day trip. From my memory, it has been at least my 5th time to Melaka unknowingly and surprisingly. I have no idea why I keep returning to Melaka. It is not as happening as KL and neither it is as near as JB. Yet, I guess there is always something more that this small city can offer and beneath its facade, I never knew there exist a rich Peranakan history and culture until the Little Nyoya came.
The only thing I dislike is the bus journey and the short time we spent in Melaka, probably just 4-5 hr while on coach for about 7 hrs. The next time I wanna try to drive up !First stop : Peranakan Lunch ! We were all famished.

The wide spread, the portion is too small for 10 people on the table~
Chendol for dessert~
We chanced upon this very authentic looking Peranankan restaurant along the streets, and I really like the whole feel of the place upon entering...

I doubt I can find such a setting in Spore~
Trying to be as poised as the older generation~

The restaurant really puts great emphasis on decor... I suspect it used to be a traditional peranakan house converted to restaurant...

The streets of Melaka is like a historical trail back to the old times...

This is supposedly the entrance of the "Huang family" in The Little Nyonya... it is the Baba Museum we went to
There are many such antique shops around~
The pot at the corner is the "kam cheng", meaning Gan Qing in Mandarin. It is what Jeanette Aw(Juxiang) carried in the show while she saw her future husband...

Condemn this shop ! NEVER eat here ! Its a scam place~
The chicken rice balls sucks, totally bring down the Melaka standard~
We had to force ourselves to finish the food =(
Before eating, filled with expectations~
Melaka is certainly not the last place you can find out more about Peranakans. Apparently Penang is a good place to visit too for the same reasons.
Its just amazing how far-reaching the effects of a drama serial can have on Sporeans.
Kam Cheng~
