FEASTival

I hate to admit I love food. After trying all kinds of food, I realized that my heart still lies with Asian food.

Managed to try this Jap place in Far East, a small place yet feels very authentic Jap food. And its famous for its Yakitoris. Reminds me of those Jap food places I see in jap drama serials years ago.

The RAW starters which I left untouched~

Sat in front of this LIVE cooking, and the most impression I get is that they kept sprinkling salt over the sticks~
Probably one of the rare places which offer patrons wet towels, akin to those in airplanes~
I love their Udon, rivals that from Sushi Tei~
This is Pork Asparagus Yakitori, yummy but too salty~
I like this, Unagi~
Went Vivo yesterday for dinner and everywhere was packed. In the end I was so glad I chose Asian Kitchen. It is my first visit there and I was so satisfied and impressed by their high standards and reasonable prices. Not to mention their great friendly service as well.

Super delicious Tofu with Thai sweet chilli and peanut~

Wanton La Mian, very yummy~
My all time fav- Egg Fried Rice, comparable to DTF standard.
Pork chop La Mian, even more yummylicious soup~
No pics of the Xiao Long Bao but its as yummy as well. I felt very good after the meal.

3 more weeks~

A Conformist Society

I really admire my neighbour's courage. I think I have casually mentioned to some of you before I have this super adventurous neighbour cum primary school mate. If I am wildful, then she is super wildful. Just last year, she left Spore and went to Greenland (one of my Dream countries) on her own for a year. I must admit that I did not really keep in touch with her since we are not close (though we used to be childhood playmates, jog together during my JC and NS years, and even went Bongkok together in 2006). Just heard that she got a job there and she has some Greenlandish friends.

Recently she just came back and before I got any chance to bump into her in the lift or my neighbourhood, she was gone again. Initially I had no idea where she went to this time round but after viewing her facebook(again!), I believed she went North once again and it will be another 6 months at least. How many people can be like her? Leave so casually and freely, and she was barely back in Spore for a week I think. On one hand I chide her selfishness, like neglecting her family, her parents just to pursue her own desire. On the other, I really admire her from the bottom of my heart because I know I do not have such courage.

I am impulsive I must admit, but I do think through my decisions and I know where my limit lies. And sad to say, I conform to our society to some extent. If I can be a non-conformist (Like her), I will probably pack my luggage and head to London or some mega city and seek a livelihood upon graduation. I do not have to conform to the norm of seeking a predictable career in Spore. Probably it's different since she is a gal. We may be moving towards equality but come on, guys still face greater pressure in family roles. We have to carry on the family line, provide for the family etc. So to some extent I can't be as wildful as her. If I do not have such pressures, I will go be airline crew for 2 years first, which is kinda dumb (study for a degree and be a high class waiter above the clouds) and I do not think anyone wants to hire me as Auditor after that since there are fresh grads every year. So it's either I continure to fly as a crew or settle for something else.

Back to my neighbour, she even has a Greenlandish bf now from what I gathered in Facebook. Oh she told me before she dislike chinese bf, saying they are boring etc. She had Indian bf before though. Haha. Anw I am saying all these about her because I know she will never read my blog since she doesnt even know of it. Just to share my extremely non-conformist friend's experience, and you all can decide if you wanna be like her or simply lead a predictable life. I wish but I can't I guess =(

Helpless~

Abrupt

Im just feeling random so shall blog randomly too. I have decided not to take German next sem after planning my timetable cos I will have to travel all the way to school (Boon Keng to Boon Lay) on Monday just for 90min of German since Monday should be my free day. Hopefully I can still take it in my last sem in NTU. And to replace german, I am taking French! Haha. I never expect myself to make such a decision. What's new? Haha. Actually I have interest in almost every language, if I have time I wanna take Jap, Malay, Italian, further my Thai... so many IFs. Yup main reason is that French fits perfectly into my timetable. Good to know basic French as well since so many people worldwide speaks the language. And once I master French, I can go anywhere in Switz (East or West). Think Pz shd be shocked by my decision. Haha. We can practise in school then !

Moving on from languages, I have to say that I hate Facebook, Friendster(to a lesser extent) and blogs at times. Okay probably most of the time! I have this love-hate interest in probing into other people's lives(including 2nd, 3rd, 4th degree friends) through the above channels; to keep myself updated thats one reason, but I never fail to end up more depressed after seeing people's walls, pics etc. This translated into a transcient urge to delete all my accounts (which I resisted after 10 secs). As some friends have commented, FB is just too transparent. And u have no idea who reads your blog as well. Can be 2nd/3rd/4th degree people. So to a certain extent I can't blog freely. The best way to do so will be to write a diary I guess.

Abrupt~

長恨歌

抽刀斷水水更流,

舉杯消愁愁更愁。

我欲乘風隨去;

在天願作比翼鳥,

在地願為連理枝。

眾裡尋他千百度,

驀然回首,

那人卻在燈火闌珊處。

天長地久有時盡,

此恨綿綿無絕期。

I love SAT

Last Sat was a super longg day. I managed to catch Chronicles with Si in the morning at a not-so-crowded GV which doesnt require pre-booking. And I realised alot of people pre-book their movie tix nowadays. I felt that Part 1 was nicer though. And Prince Cas acting is kinda stiff I thought, not impressive at all. Even the kids are better.

After that went VIVO shop awhile. Window shopping only. Despite GSS all over, the quality and sizes can be trashy. Can't get anything from GAP (as usual, I dun have a single GAP item) and Crocodile is pricey even since they revamped their image.

Headed to Orchard after that for our long-awaited buffet. Apparently some of them FASTed before coming down for the afternoon tea buffet at Carousel. It has been some time since BFG has a full attendance( except LX & YC). The place was super crowded, people queuing even before 330pm.

I like the spaciousness~
There was a great variety of food. From Jap to western to chinese, my eyes were already feasting when I stepped in. I didn't really ate alot actually, the person who ate the most is actually a GAL, not the expected guys!

Check out the dim sum~
Jap~
Local fares~
And more~
I still prefer tea~
WOW~
Im very proud of this, cos I drew the circle with the choc around the pizza. Haha
Guess whose hand? haha
There was even an Ice-Kacang machine and we needed help to figure out how to use it~
Overall, I find the food okay only. If u like variety and u r not fussy, this is the right place for afternoon tea. Ambience is not bad too. If u have UOB card all the more u can come. Haha. And really thanks to Si for burning another BIG hole for BFG. Let me count, 9 of us that day... Really a big sum. I can go Bangkok for 6 days instead! Haha. Anw I think most of us really ate till very full so it's a hearty meal!
BFG =)
BFG shrank after that to SFG(small fat group). Haha. Cos SK, Fung, Lynn, CK left. The remaining SFG decided to go Partyworld to sing! The traffic along Orchard on Sat is MAD! We squeezed up the bus, but BB and Yuhao couldnt get up. Met at Bugis after that.

I couldnt resist snapping the skyline in the evening~

Our initial plan was to go the KTV in Bugis but it was super EX. Like $32 per head?! So I suggested PW at Chinatown instead, which is more ULU.
I thought that this Indian temple near Smith Street is beautiful~
Chinatown in the evening gives me this very nostalgic feel~
YAY finally managed to sing! I must say I am a PARTY freak. Not the clubber of course( dun really c the joy of clubbing) but the singer at PARTYworld. I guess I can only feel like a singer in PW. It kind of satisfy my subconscious desire. Haha.

And 4 hrs is definitely not enuff for 5 people. I left 4 pages of song unsang when our session ended. And I finally realised how nice Eason songs are. Great to discover nice music anytime. Time to rush for our last modes of getting home after that.

Fulfilling day~
Anw on Sunday I went Partyworld again! Haha. As I said Im a PARTY freak. Went to the Orchard outlet wif XX. It's a good session, cos I sang the song I want finally~

Food Lover

I was reading the chinese papers and chanced upon this article. Sad. One Panda down due to the earthquake. Everyone has been asking if I have watched Kungfu panda. As I said, that Panda is damn ugly. Haha. But I did hear many positive reviews on the movie!
Anyway I enjoyed my weekend very much! Will blog about it slowly. On Friday, I managed to meet up with Adrian & Nuan to celebrate Nuan's upcoming B'day. Yup she is the oldest among us haha, by right it shd be Jay but since he isn't around so it's her. I suggested the dining placeS that day and we went to Haji Lane for our Mediterrinean Dinner.

The Egyptician place we went~ The decor emits a certain mystery feel~

I managed to reserved the 2nd level seats. The whole setting is that of a shophouse. Okay we had no chairs to sit. Just sat down(or knelt) on the mats to eat. At first, I thought that the patrons seemed kind of weird, and they were foreign I guess.

The menu, rather reasonable prices~
We all ordered Kebabs since its their speciality, lamb, beef and chicken. If u look closely in the menu they have 'Egyptician Healthy Drinks' and being adventurous enough, I was convinced to order that by them. I had this drink called 'Halba Hasa'. Whatever it is. Anyway it was a decision which I subsequently regretted. As Nuan aptly described it, the taste is that of ginseng in milk powder. Healthy as it sounds but definitely not to our liking =(

The 'healthy' drink~
Our main courses~
Overall, it is an unique experience at this place. Saw many people smoking the Pipes also, along the street and in the restaurant. It is really rare that we still have such a street, as I thought that it only belonged to the days in the 80's. I felt as though I walked into another realm, then out into the busy city area again. Oh thanks to the Bday gal again for the treat, which she insisted as she got her 1st pay =)

Yup there's always space for desserts! What more after a not-very-filling meal. I suggested Ice cube or Dempsey, and we settled for the latter eventually. Went to La Fondue for the well-deserved desserts! This time it's Adrian and my turn to treat!

Brownie with many fruits & Oreo~
As the place suggests, it's famous for fondues so we can't miss it as well. I must say I was rather impressed by the assortment.

Brownie, orange, strawberry, kiwi, vanilla ice-creams, marshmellow, dognuts, pineapple to go with the choc~
The milk choco was satisfying~
Pose for the cam~
After the hearty dessert~
Satisfied~

Overall, it wasnt that crowded, maybe cos we entered at 930pm. And it's comfortable to sit and relax and take ya time to enjoy =)

No doubt it's damn sinful =(

Gimme more~

Never Late than Never

Went to DXO with mum last night. In case u all are wondering why, my mum is definitely not hip so obviously we are not there to drink. Haha. There was this UFM 1003 event and I was dragged to attend since she did not want to go alone. Anyway it was this famous DJ Li Mei's b'day and listeners were welcomed to attend the B'day bash (admission fees included of course).

There were some performances going on, including the highlight of the night, which was a dance between the B'day gal herself and a fellow DJ. The buffet dinner was a mad rush and shoving, which I had not experienced for very long.

Managed to take a pic with Li Mei at the end of the bash~
I felt that I did not come in vain when I saw my Idol for years. I have waited at least 10 years before I get a chance to get so up-close with Thomas Ong, who is Li Mei's very good friend. My mum was the one who approached him and he really has this aloof feel such that I thought he will reject our request for picture. Still remember his Wild Orchids & Unbroken cycle with Fann =)

The photo really do Thomas injustice as he is at least 10 times better looking personally~
Just could not forsake the chance of a second pic~
In DXO~
Glad I was there~
