Ich bin ein student

After being here for 80days, I have not really given a decent entry into my school life here. So this entry is a special insight into studying in St Gallen. Yes Im a good student afterall =)

Copying Notes diligently in Strategy Crafting class
The hardworking Hansel, with unattentive classmates behind. Lol
Reading up case in Comp Lab
The School~
It was a bright sunny day =) No more snow finally.
Went home after school and seeing that the sky was bright and sunny, I decided to jog after such a long time, despite the temp being 5 degrees. Okay stop saying Im crazy! And I brought my cam along to jog, as I wanna capture my jogging trail.

The row of houses just opposite my house

The sun was setting, and it was barely 4pm.The sun was setting even lower, but it was beautiful =) And jogging back...
The sun has set.

Did not cook dinner yesterday. Instead all of us went to IKEA for meatball dinner, including the 2 thai gals and our Taiwan friend, Mu Han.

The Ikea special evening promotionThe enticing meatballs. Spore ones r nicer though.

After dinner was a short shopping in IKEA. Mu Han wanted to get a softtoy for her Korean friend, and we had some fun playing wif the toys. She got a cute giraffe eventually.
My deadly obsession. Ms Cristy Mu Han was so blunt to say that the Panda is ugly, insulting me indirectly. It's cute like me okay!

Another day gone~

Number 200

It has been one year odd. And this entry is the 200th. I dunno if that means Im a frequent blogger. I can foresee a 300th, 400th... I dun think I will stop, as I love to write, even if its so crap. Haha. So. Number 200th has to be more special, and how special shall it be? It shall be in chinese. Haha. It has been some time since I show my bilinguality. Haha. So shameless. But thats me.

So let me tell U how I feel

Just back from Austria yesterday, but not going to blog about Austria yet. Went to surf the net casually today, and got updated with some Spore news. I was shocked by the Dragonboaters mishap in Cambodia, which came as very sudden to me. 5 dragonboaters, young and able, were unable to withstand the onslaught of the sudden wave and were swept away as a result. It must have been a shocking news to Spore, and makes me wonder. Aren't dragonboaters all fit to swim? Maybe when the tides get rough, it doesnt really matter if u r a swimmer. It just dawn on me that anyone, healthy and bubbly one moment, could be gone the next, at anytime and anywhere.

Whether u r sleeping, jogging, eating, walking, driving, swimming... activites that seem normal and routine could be endangering.

Therefore, I just wanna rattle in this entry, and say whatever I feel at this moment.

Finally feeling a little stress as exams r looming.
Finally its the end of the travelling. Gonna stay put in St Gallen till exams are over, which Im very glad for it. I have reached my threshold for travelling.
I dunno if I should look forward to my end of term here, for Im already accustomed to life here and couldnt imagine being in NTU next sem. The thought of it is simply disgusting.
I dunno how Im going to face some people in Spore again. The feeling of awkwardness, the loss of the familiarity and affection, the loss of touch. Can I grapple with that? Or will I simply avoid that feeling altogether? I dunno yet.
I feel underachieved all my life. From secondary school to Uni I lost count of the number of wrong decisions I have made. I feel that Im not stretching myself to the fullest, and losing too many great opportunities along the way. If I could reverse time, I surely would.
I feel like a jack of all trades and a master of none.
I feel miserable that Im non-musically-inclined and gives up too easily.
I feel that a relationship is always unbalanced; one party is always giving more than the other. Feelings can be so transient and unexplainable, yet can be so lasting and faithful.

Despite all my shortcomings and regrets, I feel blessed still, and contented with my life now. I just need a space to whine, so spare my rattles~

Save the last one for me

Its the exam period again. To all the peeps in NTU, NUS & SMU, mug hard for ya exams! It will be over in a flash! Okay maybe not, as I totally understand how tormenting the exam period is.

It's like u want to sleep, yet u can't sleep as u gotta revise.
It's like u want to shop, yet u feel guilty wasting 2 hrs in Orchard.
It's like u want to watch TV, yet u can't as u are still not done with one chapter.

There is just no freedom! That's why I chose to come here, as I know I will have one less exam in NTU, even if that means a tougher semester for me next sem as I will probably be taking one core module more than the others.

So many birthdays in Nov and Dec, I realized. Heard that the Xmas decor in Orchard now is beautiful. I have not been to any Xmas markets here yet, nor have I seen any real Xmas decor. Hopefully I will see them soon in the bigger cities.

Currently, I have 2 reports to submit by Dec. Exams are in Dec too. Time is running out. Haha. Will probably be mugging on my Bday this year. Haha. Still remember last year for 21st, seems so long ago yet barely a year. Still remember how nervous I was that day( I dunno why, it's not like it's my wedding day). And recalling it, I did not eat any of the catered food that night. Lol.

Away from SG fror 73days already. Its hard to believe how fast that number is increasing, and in a couple of weeks I will be in SG again. I have no idea if anything has changed. But for sure, I have not~

Maiden SKI SwitzerLand

Planned for Skiing todaY! Whee! Lol. After 2 mths plus in Switzerland, we finally have the chance to ski. Before coming here, I have already heard of how renowned the ski resorts here are, which makes it a MUST to ski at least once here. Despite sleeping early the night before and waking up rather early (755am), we missed the 1st bus we planned to catch so had to take a later train. We reached the Ski resort, Flumsberg, at close to noon. As it was sunday, the place was damn crowded.

Sargans, a transiting station which is damn beautiful
Alright we had to take the cable car to the ski mountains. The view from the cable car as we ascend is splendid =)
Due to language barrier, 8 out of 10 people we asked could not speak proper English. Yeah we tried asking directions for renting ski gear and stuff, and tried asking people for help in seeking a ski instructor. After asking numerous people, we finally found the Ski School supervisor and he arranged an instructor for us. I was almost on the verge of exploding, so pissed that the people here dun learn their English well in school! LoL. Chill*

The weather was awesome, clear sky finally!

The Ski Resort~
It's really beautiful, the partial snowy mountains.
All set out for SKI!
Let me teach u the proper way to move forward... haha
Me, Jh & WQ had an hour of SKI lesson, basically just grappling with the basics. We had a nice instructor, who can speak good English (thankfully).
Gliding forward skilfully~
Not forgetting my poses...
My noble attempt to scale the mountain...
And Skiing downwards from the slope... balancing and maintaining my posture.
The gal's commendable effort in scaling the mountain... they really worked their way up. Haha.
And they displayed their strength & fortitude in scaling down the mountain... LoL
Ski Resort At sunset - Awesome scenery
Skiing is shag. I have forgotten how it feels like to ski as the last time I had my legs on the ski boots was about 5 years ago in Korea. And the Korea Ski resort is vastly different from the one here. It's much more beginners-designed in Korea, and the scenery is certainly not as great. From this first experience here, we really need more coaching from professionals to scale greater heights. I hope I will have another skiing chance here.
Great experience though~

Zermatt

7 of us went to Zermatt on thursday, having endured a train ride of at least 10 hrs to and fro. I woke up at the wee hours of 4am, just to catch the 5 plus train in the morning. It is located in the south-eastern part of Switz, while St Gallen is in the North-eastern part. I was reluctant to go initially as the travelling time puts me off. But considering that Zermatt has arguably the most recognisable landmark of Switzerland, the Matterhorn, I guess I just gotta see it.

Due to the heavy snowpour the past few days, the town of Zermatt is literally white. It was a quiet day, with few tourists, and its picturesque everywhere we walk. Snowy mountains, white Xmas trees, snowy white roads and paths, it's everything I imagined real winter to be like. The only complaint is that it's too cold, day was around -3 degrees while by evening it dropped to -7 degrees. And the slippery ground which has never made me so cautious when walking.

Zermatt
Wooden-styled houses and Hotels along the slope
The Matterhorn - the mountain with a distinct tip, arguably the landmark of Switzerland Actually this is what I envision Finland to be like. It would be perfect if there were reindeers pulling carriages, with Mr Santa leading the way. I will gleefully hop on one =)The half icy river - I just love the half-covered snowy trees, which still revealed the green leaves.
The sun was glaring, perfect excuse to don my glasses so I dun have to open my eyes while taking pics. Haha.
Possibly my blog entry with the least pics of myself. I thought I look awful that day =(
Oh we discovered an outdoor Ice skating ring - Teenagers playing Ice-Hockey in such an utopic town
Partial darkness by evening. Raymond Well, 510 pm. It was almost pitch-dark by 545 pm. Thats another reason to dislike winter, it shortens my days.
No skiing that day, yet I was satisfied just by the beauty of nature.
Wonder how long this will last, as in how long the Earth will sustain its natural beauty.
I still believe the end of the world, not in our generation, but possibly, 300 years later.

When the four seasons are distorted, where Switerland snows no more
When the ice bergs are melted, where the polar bears exist no more
When Spore starts to snow, where Pandas are seen no more
When resources are depleted, where Mankind ceases. Forever.

Pouring SNOW

Woke up to a snow pour once again. The house internet is getting on my nerves. Anw despite the heaviest snow I have seen in my life, I went alone today to Winterthur to walk around. Winterthur is the 6th largest city in Switz and its less than an hour from St Gallen by train. But it was disappointing or rather, much expected. Nothing much to see, gloomy weather, limited shops. Left after an hour there to catch train to St Gallen as I have class in the afternoon.

My footsteps to the bustop at my house; My snowy Hair
Snowy St Gallen
And its a fact that St Gallen is one of the coldest city in Switz. Its always snowing when other cities arent snowing.
This looks like some snow resort in some scenic area, but it's not! Haha. Its my University! I almost couldnt recognise it, for my first time the school is all white.
Taking pics when my break is only 5 min, and clearly we took like 20 min jus taking pics in school.
After class, me and WQ went to take more pics. The school has never looked so lovely till today.
A kid with frostbite. My white Xmas is here, officially.
Loving the snowy old town~
