My FriendManaged to sing, play mj, had Dim Sum, catch up wif JC clique, Thai food, Azabu Sabo, Swensons over the weekend. It was Siying's bday and we had a simple celebration over a meal for her. She then asked this question which has been on my mind for very long"Why is it that we tend to meet our non-close friends more often than close friends"?I took some time to ponder over it, and said close friends do not have to meet often to remain close. And is it true that u meet other friends more often in an attempt to get closer? Not exactly either. Well, so what constitutes close? It's so hard to draw a clear line. I feel that I am close to Friend Z, but Z may not regard me as a close friend. And I think this is rather sad. One-sided affair is one of the worst outcomes in any relationships: Friendship, Kinship, relationship. For me, I guess if I am able to pour my heart out to you comfortably, I do regard u as a close friend and I do treasure it. Sad to say but as a matter of fact when I meet groups of friends the topics are can be rather superficial. Not that it's a bad thing, but it's definitely harder to have more in-depth conversations within a group than one-to-one. Of course, I do worry about 'losing' some friends as we work in our different fields in future, or even possibly different countries. And maintaining friendships require effort, which can be a challenge as we make new friends and drift apart. I just read somewhere that the only thing that is constant in this universe is 'change'. As hearts change, friendship changes as well. We may have gone to elementary school, secondary and college together and shared many fond memories during our school days. But are those memories simply those of yesterday? I told XX about my dream of losing a friend. Well, probably that really is my deepest fear.
Forget me not~
