Stuttgart – Day 5We stayed overnight in Stuttgart mainly to visit the factory outlet in a nearby city called Metzingen, where Hugo Boss dominates. There was breakfast in the morning but while we were eating halfway, we heard a loud burst and guess what, a dining room lamp exploded and the glass flew all over the floor. I cannot imagine if there was someone just under it at that moment. Gosh.
Anw we went to the outlet quite early and the shops were not open yet. However, there were already tons of people waiting for the shops to open. It’s so wrong that only Sporeans are Kiasu.
Apart from Hugo, there were Espirit, Bally, Burberry, Energie, Diesel, Levis, Miss Sixty, Armani, Pepe Jeans, Escada, Nike, Adidas etc. The Espirit shop shocked me when there were trolleys for people, just like a supermarket, and the cashiers were lined one just like the supermarts. But there wasn’t much to buy. The merchandise are mostly oversized, and Hugo Boss, though huge, was made so cheapened by the poorly designed shirts and jeans. It was a great disappointment.
Went back to Stuttgart in early afternoon and had a late lunch, roast chicken plus wurst(sausage) before we took our train back home, St Gallen.
I like Germany, especially Hamburg and Berlin. If there is time for only one city, I will choose Berlin. It’s a city and capital with one of the best fusion of history and modernization in Europe. Previously I had been so wrong to subject Germany to the mere impression of Munich(which I thought was sucky), without knowing how much I could have missed out on. Im glad I didn’t. Mamma Mia~
