LonDon Bridge is falling downYeah jus back from London yest afternoon! And snow greeted me as I stepped out alone from the plane at Zurich, could see the snow flakes flying as the place was landing. It's really a very nice city, not that I keep saying the same things for every city I go but London, for the english familiarity just precedes the others. Apart from the overly-valued British pounds, I have not much complaints for the city. Food has never been so expensive in my life, neither has taking the train been so ex. A plate of duck rice cost about 19 sing. Taking a one way train in the tube cost about 4.50 sing. Cost of living can differ so much from Singapore. My traveling partners changed again this time round. No longer with my ntu mates(it's a long story) but with the 2 thai friends. And another long story, I stayed in a hostel while they were in a hotel. And I flew with them but flew back to Zurich alone. Anw we had 2 full days in London, plus a day tour we took to see the stonehenge, Bath and Windsor Castle, all away from London city. One of the famous landmark: Tower Bridge of London
Most representative landmark: The Big Ben and the Parliament house
Yet another: The London Eye
The largest and most preserved medieval castle in UK(and Europe I think), the Tower of London. Its a World Heritage Site and its where the Queen's mega diamond crowns are exhibited.
London Streets: Picaddilly Circus
The Red London Bus, familiar restaurant names
The 2nd largest unsupported Dome in Europe(the 1st being St Peter's Basilica in Vatican City), St Paul's Cathedral. It's here where the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana took place in 1981. Queen Elizabeth supposedly comes here for service occasionally.
The houses, hotels and buildings are really exquisite.
Not forgetting the famous red telephone booths. Nobody uses them now with the advent of hp. Im pretty sure they aren't removed from the London streets as it's already a trademark of the city.
The famous UK brands which are exorbitantly priced to my disgust. Thanks to the Pounding effect once again. I must mention Im very impressed with their home grown departmental shop Harrods. If Taka is big, Harrods must be Mega big. Heard from Jiehui Harrods can close for a few days just for the Royal Family to shop inside. Everything is ex in Harrods, and it has all the famous brands u can think of inside, with a ultra huge Food Hall at the ground floor. I tried my 1st Krispy Kreme here and I declare that its nicer than Donut factory. Yummy.
Xmas decorations in the most busy shopping street in London, Oxford Street.
Ticket booths for musicals and plays are aplenty, just some familiar names I captured while walking. Yea the 2 thai friends watch Mary Poppins without me. And they were full of praise for it. Haa. I couldnt get tix as I booked later. Shall watch it if it ever gets to Spore.
The famous Landmarks at night: the London Eye, the Tower Bridge, and Big Ben.
More updates soon for London! I love UK!
