Hamburg, Germany – Day 1
The 2nd largest city in Germany, Hamburg I feel is much overshadowed by Berlin, Frankfurt or Munich when one thinks of Germany. It's not related to Hamburger by the way, neither does Hamburger originates from it. Haa. It has Europe’s 2nd largest port(after Rotterdam) and has the reputation of Venice of the north. The city is certainly not touristy, and it’s a pleasure to stroll around the city centre when most of the attractions are close together.
Im most impressed by its buildings and city layout. Most buildings and houses are old yet well preserved. The metro is well-blended into the city, and it’s surprising how advanced the city is. It was my 1st time taking an open-air escalator up a bridge, an automated one which goes both directions depending whether u wanna go up or down.On the plane to Hamburg - Its simply too nice to believe how I can see the Alps from above the clouds. Dun the clouds look like some bathing foam!?
Im on Cloud 9
WQ and me took a harbour cruise 1st, and it was damn chilly.
Then we went to see the famous landmark of Hamburg, the St. Michaeliskirche. After which, we went to see the historical Speicherstadt, a warehouse complex built in 1888, which is the world’s largest stretch of warehouses.
Nice House~
The St Michaelis Church
My new found obsession - Autum Leaves
It’s great to window shop in Hamburg, around the Neuer Wall and Rathausplatz. The boutiques are simply elegant, housing names like Hugo Boss, Gucci, Longchamp.
Famous Town Hall~
It remained still for me to capture - A seagull? or so I thought.
We had an Asian dinner, which is quite value for money, and Im really glad we are not eating any more western food. Im really sick of it as of now. A night walk after dinner is simply perfecto.
Night scene of Hamburg
Our last visit was to the famous red light district. I never knew Hamburg has one. But there is really no comparison to the Amsterdam one. It's just so lifeless and dull for Hamburg.
Next day - Berlin
