Pisa, ItalyFrom Venice, we took train to Pisa via Florence but we did not see the sights in Florence, which is quite a pity due to time constraint. Pisa is a small city, nothing much but the famous Leaning Tower. As we arrvied at night, we can only take a night stroll to the leaning tower from our hotel. And my reaction when I saw it? I can't believe that's it. Its not magnificent from what I see in pictures. Its not overwhelming to me. It's lonesome, it's quite miniature to me just like a monument in a museum. Only a handful of tourists there. I wasn't impressed. The next day, we went there again in the morning. A scene which is a stark contrast to the previous night. Tourists were aplenty, sourvenir shops occupied the street, weather was sunny and the tower and the surrounding cathedral literally lighted up, which salvaged my mediocre impression of the place. It's still worth the visit afterall =) And its amazing how long this tower had been around, al least a hundred year old and I can't believe restoration works is still ongoing till 2009. What's more amazing is that they allowed tourists to get up the tower for 15 euros(which we didnt). I remembered reading somewhere that they have forbidden people for entering it for fear of its collapse. Still, its amazing how this structure and wonder of the world can survive till now, rooting itself stubbornly on the ground.
I had done all I can to the tower. I pinched it, cut it...
Jump towards it, trying to topple it for good...
Leaned on it when I was tired, kicked it when I was frustrated...
Pushed it to restore its uprightness, topple it wif WQ's humble effort...
I decided to stop being mean to it. Haa. The 2 gals who tried to be funny. I thought this pic is comical as we look gigantic compared to them.
Finally a normal group pic concludes the Pisa Visit~
