280607 – 290607 Days 26 & 27
Thursday morning we checked out of Dai Nam Hotel and headed to visit the Mekong Delta. It is the most fertile area in Vietnam, a very long river which spans across several countries. The river is surprisingly not smelly but rather clean. We took the boat around the river and disembarked to visit the local village where local snacks like coconut candy is produced. Along Mekong River
Then we had another seafood lunch, to the point where we were so sick of seeing fish and prawns. After lunch, we went to a nursery and tried some fruits there. The owner of the plantation was a war hero according to our guide.
Then we made our way to Can To province and checked into this 2-storey hotel. It is great that all of us are living on the same floor. The dinner that day was bad, especially the steamboat. Then we went to walk around but there was really nothing to see. The stupid FOC games kept me entertained the night, thanks to ZL and Susan’s bright ideas. Then we played pool for an hour before returning to hotel. Then me and ZL decided to go the sauna since it’s FOC and it turned out to be quite alright. The night ended with bridge games and a HTHT session.
On Friday after our breakfast, we took the boat to visit the floating market in Mekong Delta. It is totally different from the one in Thailand. There are people selling different kinds of fruits on their boats and they will get close to you when you have the intention to buy. Floating Market
After that, we boarded the bus to head for lunch when around 5 minutes later Jessica said CH and Jasmine have not boarded yet, which we did not realize. Luckily the bus went back to fetch them again in time. Our subsequent lunch sux, same old dishes like fish and prawns we have been eating these few days. Me, KX, Rac and Dilys had a great time playing Open Numbers.
We reached HCM city around 4 plus then we checked in Chancelor Hotel. The room we got is like a suite, completed with a mini living room and a bedroom. Dinner was at Nicee Café, which is a superb experience for me. It is probably one of the best places I have dined in my life. It is not that the food is great, but also the nice music the place plays and the fine ambience which makes you feel comfortable and reluctant to leave. After dinner, we went to the KTV within the cafe and sang for about an hour as the songs were too sucky and old though the place was conducive for singing. We went to walk around the city area and ended up at New World Hotel to sing again at the nightclub there. The songs are much newer there though we had to wait very very long for our turn to sing. There was even internet for use there. It was wonderful singing and simply slacking there till around 2am before we left.
