Oscars Mood
I’ve been waking up early for the past 2 days to have breakfast with mum at Bendemeer food centre. I’m kinda amazed I can get up so early just to eat, and I’m usually tired for the rest of the day due to my insufficient sleep. Anw I watched the Oscars yesterday morning LIVE on chn 5. Well kinda disappointed Babel didn’t win best picture. The Departed won instead. Sux lor, Babel should win. And the acting awards recipients are so predictable, exactly what the magazines had predicted earlier. But still, I’m glad to see Reese Witherspoon and Kate Winslet on TV. I really hope Kate Winslet will win the next time round.
And just now, I went to watch DreamGirls at PS. Actually I wanted to watch Letters from Iwo Jima but changed my mind last minute cos I wanted to watch a less somber show. But DreamGirls isn’t exactly light hearted either. It reminds me of Walk the Line, which I catched last year (also at PS) starring Reese Witherspoon which got her a Best Actress at the Oscars. But of course, it’s not as somber as Walk the Line. Now I know why everyone is delighted by Jennifer Hudson’s performance. She really steals the show from Beyonce and Jamie Fox, such that I thought she was the lead actress (Beyonce was) and her powerhouse vocals really jolted me out of my seat. Of course, Beyonce is stunning but somehow lacks the x-factor in the show to make you attracted to her performance. Jennifer Hudson did not win the Oscar yesterday for no reason. And she’s really lucky I must say, from American Idol Failure to Academy Award recipient. What a dramatic life for her, like a maid turn Cinderella overnight.
And tmr morning, I gotta go NTU for project discussion, sux man…
