Botak Today

Today went school for Acc project. At least we got some things done though the meeting is quite short. After project went SI's hall to settle her stuff before getting out of sch for lunch. Becos of Ah Nuan's superb written food review of Botak Jones, I had a very strong craving to go there, esp after reading her blog, u just feel like u wanna reach to eat the food in the pics she posted immediately. To Nuan, u can be a food critic if u dunno what to do in future, can cover those food stories in Lifestyle section. Hahha. Anw I did not go to the AMK branch, went to the clementi one instead with Si. Okay for now I shall be a food critic as well:

Botak Jones is found in a coffeeshop. Initially I wanted to order from the stall but was politely directed to another front stall which is just set up to take orders. I was kinda puzzled by the waste of resources to set up another stall just for order taking. If u r observant enuff, u will notice that not only do they sell food, they actually sell their own brand of sourvenirs, like the teddy bear, cab and shirt. Wow, for a coffeeshop stall to go to that extent, this is the 1st time I have encountered. Anw we ordered 2 sets of Fish N Chips, so predictable, should have tried some other stuff though. It's quite reasonably priced, $5.50 per set.

We sat just in front of the stall. It's delighting to see so many choices of sauces right in front of you, without u having to request from them for it.

Here the food comes! Served in a black-pan-like plate, the style of serving reminds me of Fish N Co. actually. The coleslaw is generously served, kinda too much for me to take, given that the fish and fries are huge in portion too. Their tartar sauce has a unique taste, quite different from those I had previously tasted before, and it certainly blended very well with the fish.

As for the golden fries soaked with chilli powder, I totally agree with food correspondant Nuan that it's one of the nicest fries I have ever tasted. Long John fries is nothing compared to it (see pic below), as it's so extraordinarily fried and marinated in chilli powder, such that it's just enough to satisfy your appetite. And not only does it taste like fries, there's a familiar feeling of munching Carlsbee Spicy Potato Chips after a few bites as the crisp of the fries is so wonderfully delivered.

It's a satisfying meal for us, although the serving is a little too much for us to take. Highly recommended for those who wanna enjoy restaurant-like food at coffeshop prices~
